We all carry a bit of the wisdom and grace shared We all carry a bit of the wisdom and grace shared by the women who have walked alongside us. Whether it was a teacher who saw your potential, a grandmother with a quiet strength, or a friend who showed you what it means to be very intentional, these influences weave themselves into who we are today. They are the silent architects of our confidence and the reason we move through the world with the poise we do.

That influence often shows up in how we carry ourselves in professional spaces. It is worth recognizing that our success and our style are rarely solo efforts. We are often reflecting the light that someone else first shone on us. Taking a moment to acknowledge those women grounds us in a sense of gratitude that is both professional and deeply personal. It reminds us that our own growth is part of a much larger story of support and encouragement.

I encourage you to take this a step further than just a thought. Reach out to a woman who has made a difference for you. Send a quick text, write a handwritten note, or make a phone call to let her know she is appreciated. Those small gestures of recognition often mean more than we realize.

Taking a moment to pause and reset is an essential Taking a moment to pause and reset is an essential part of maintaining a professional and polished presence. When our schedules become demanding, it is easy to move from one task to the next without acknowledging the need for a transition.

I find that being very intentional about how I spend my downtime allows me to return to my work with a much clearer perspective. Whether it is refreshing your space or simply stepping away for a few hours, these small windows of rest are what allow us to lead with confidence.

Knowing how to effectively recharge ensures we can continue to show up for others with grace and focus.

As we step into sandal season, our feet often take As we step into sandal season, our feet often take center stage in a way they do not during the colder months. It is a natural time to refine those finishing touches that help you feel put together. While we often focus on professional image from the neck up, a polished pedicure is a simple way to feel complete from head to toe.

Classic choices like a French pedicure remain popular because they are timeless and clean. It is a versatile option that transitions easily from a professional meeting to a weekend gathering, providing a look that is polished without being a distraction.

If you are looking for something with a bit more of a modern edge, chrome finishes or a pearl-like iridescent topcoat are wonderful alternatives. These styles add a nice dimension and catch the light in a way that feels elevated. Choosing subtle metallic tones like soft silver or champagne allows you to express your personality while maintaining a professional presence.

You can revisit the blog linked below for a deeper look at current trends and more tips on how to keep your feet looking their best as the weather warms up.

I have spent years in the networking world. I prev I have spent years in the networking world. I previously served as a Managing Director of two different women’s networking groups, and today you can regularly find me with eWomen, ProWin, and Women of Community Impact.

I have learned that networking twice a week is my personal maximum. I used to do more, but I found that you must save time to follow up or you are not truly using the investment. It is better to go to fewer events and have a follow-up within 24 hours. A pile of 100 business cards on your desk does not grow your business.

It is really networking 101, but the execution is what matters.

Where are you going lately where you feel like you are meeting truly quality people?

I was recently talking with my team about the tech I was recently talking with my team about the technical side of my business. We were discussing things like website back ends and email automations.

I have realized that I am much more effective when I am not bogged down in the technical nitty gritty. I am so grateful for the "Shoemaker Elves" in my professional life who handle those pieces for me. Their expertise allows me to stay focused on the creative and strategic work I truly love. It is a reminder that we do not have to do it all alone to be successful.

It is such a relief to take those items off my list and know they are in expert hands. This way, I can show up fully for my clients and my community.

I recently designed new decor for my double front I recently designed new decor for my double front doors. This project has me thinking a lot about the process of redesigning our spaces, whether that is in our homes or our businesses.

For these new wreaths, I chose to repurpose meaningful pieces from the past. I worked with a florist to integrate dried flowers from a sentimental arrangement, giving them a fresh, year-round purpose. If you love a specific ribbon or a unique dried element, save it. Those pieces can be repurposed into a beautiful centerpiece or a wall hanging that tells your story.

This same philosophy applies to business. Growth often involves looking at what has worked for a while and bringing a new, fresh look to it. We don't always have to start from scratch. Sometimes the most impactful "new" look comes from redesigning and elevating the elements we already value.

When you walk into a room, the goal is for people to notice your confidence and your message first. I see outfits get so loud that people remember the clothes, not the person

If an outfit is so loud that it drowns out your expertise, it is not doing its job. Choosing pieces that highlight your professional authority without taking center stage is an art. We want your audience to walk away remembering your impact and your ideas above all else.

I am bringing back my guide on being "Sun-Smart" because protecting your skin is one of the most vital long term investments you can make for your personal brand. For a long time, many of us avoided daily protection because of how it felt under makeup or the way it affected our finish. However, the shift toward high quality mineral sunscreens has changed the game for the savvy professional.

You can have incredible skin protection without sacrificing a polished, camera ready look. It is about choosing products that work with your professional makeup rather than against it.

I particularly enjoyed Deborah’s personal presentation tips and stories and have been making a better effort to ‘dress for work on the days I am not doing really messy things like sanding/building or priming canvas. Deborah Day Fawaz

CEO of DDFaces

Deborah loves humor, food, family and the beach! She also loves being around other women, and is passionate about encouraging them to embrace their natural beauty—becoming more confident and comfortable.

She has always been interested in hair, makeup and fashion. As a teenager, her mother took her to a local beauty salon for a makeup lesson her 16th birthday, to ensure that she looked her best and knew what she was doing. From there, her interest in all things beauty and image expanded. She watched every TV show she could about makeup, took classes at the local mall, junior college and generally, studied and practiced on herself. When friends and family would admire her look, she offered to teach them how to duplicate it. Soon, friends and neighbors were hiring her for special events, weddings, and private lessons.

After teaching in the public school system for 34 years, she retired to follow her passion and created DDFaces. Although makeup is her first love, she advises others about color selection for clothing, hair and makeup, does professional makeup for head shots, events, speakers and private industry. She enjoys teaching workshops about color, specific makeup techniques and helping others craft their overall image.

She and her husband, Dan, have 5 adult children and now reside in Flowery Branch, Georgia, where they share their home with their 12 year old Maltese, Roxy.
